Events To Attend Queensland

Many major events, whether Australian and International, takes place in Queensland throughout the year, attracting lots of notable artists, musician, athletes and spectators from many different countries. Feel free to familiarise yourself with the timing of these events and spice up your Queensland holiday plan with some of these events.

 

January


Australia Day

Tens of thousands of people would come together each year on the 26th January to celebrate Australian heritage and history. Musical talents would also come together for grandiose live performances that would be followed by a spectacular firework show over the Brisbane River.

Apple and Grape Festival

The Apple and Grape Festival is a 10 days long festival held once every two years (to make it easy, it is held on even years) in Stanthorpe in Southern Queensland Country. The festival would be held in a true festive fashion with a huge arrays of markets, fireworks, music and entertainments, a grand parade, wine classes and of course the celebration of apples and grapes.

Bleach* Festival

The Bleach* Festival is “Gold Coast’s signature arts and cultural festival”, typically held from the end of March till mid-April. During the festival, many events relating to arts would be held, a platform where many local artists and international collaborators would gather and display their inspiring and unique creativity across multiple artistic disciplines ranging from dance, music, theatres and visual arts.

Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro

Since Gold Coast is hailed as one of the surfing paradise in the world, then surfing events are must-visits. Quiksilver Pro and Roxy Pro are the most significant and quintessential surf events happening in Coolangatta, Gold Coast where lots of people, even from overseas, come to experience the wonderful sunshine and amazing beaches in Gold Coast while watching surfers from all around the world compete against each other in this exciting sports.

CMC Rocks

CMC Rocks, held annually in Ipswich, is mandatory for country music lovers. It is the biggest international music festival involving country and roots music in Australia. In fact, it is one of the biggest one held in the southern hemisphere. Many renowned artists will come and perform to a huge audience.

2018 Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games is an international sport event that is held every four years involving nations that are members of the British Commonwealth. In 2018, the Commonwealth Games will be brought to Australia, in Gold Coast, marking the fifth time Australia has held the Games. Noosa Food and Wine Festival

Noosa is one of the most well known food destination in Australia. Every year, a food festival is held there to celebrate the fame of their great dining lifestyles. Queensland Day

Every year on 6th June, all of Queensland will rise up and celebrate the birthday of their beloved state. It is a day where the communities come together to herald their shared heritage and show what it means to be an Australian and a Queenslander. Numerous events will be held, prestigious awards would be handed out and the cities would be liven up as iconic buildings light up in Queensland’s official state colour.

Gold Coast Marathon

The Gold Coast Marathon (also known as the Gold Coast Airport Marathon) is one of the leading road race in the world that holds a IAAF Gold Label status, an extremely prestigious Label to hold. You can come and take part in this event and have a run along the amazingly scenic routes along the iconic city and its renowned beaches. If you manage to complete the 42km, you will receive a spectacular medal that could be your pride for the rest of your life.

Ekka

Ekka (short for Exhibition), also known as the Royal Queensland Show, is an agricultural festival held at Brisbane Showgrounds every year. Ekka has been running for more than 100 years and has became an iconic event in Brisbane, attracting around 400,000 people in recent years. There will be unique food, rides, stalls, exhibitions, fireworks and many more activities that visitors of all ages can enjoy.

Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo

Do you yearn for a wild west experience in Australia? You can have it all in Mount Isa during their famous annual rodeo. Here you can experience three days worth of adrenaline-inducing action, where cowboys do awesome stuff in this lovely mining town in the Australian Outback. There will be plenty other things to do such as scenic tours, live rock music.

Brisbane Festival

22 days of wonder starting from the 8th of september Brisbane hosts the most spectacular and grandiose festival of the year capturing more than 1 million people. Exploding across the city will be unforgettable performances of theatre, music, dance, circus and opera as well as major public events such as the Sunsuper Riverfire.

Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers

A 10 day event of flowers and fun! Celebrating its 69th year the award winning Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers continues to grow. Expect an abundance of glorious gardens, live music, great food and wine and a whole lot more.

Gold Coast 600

Nothing is more invigorating than immersing yourself in the adrenaline pumping mayhem that is the Australian V8 supercars championship series. As the leader in motorsport entertainment and globally recognised as the best touring car category in the world the Gold Coast 600 won’t disappoint.

The Awakening Festival is a three day journey of sustainability, spirituality, music, art, dance and culture. Woodford Folk Festival

An annual festival that is held over 6 days and 6 nights bringing more than 2000 performers and 400 events that feature both local and international talent alike. The festival program includes a healthy dose of comedy acts, social dialogue and debate, street theatre, dance, circus performances and much much more. All ages and nationalities are welcome to join in on the fun and discover new cultures.
