At a Glance

One of the most visited site is “The Strand”. Since the city was founded in the mid-19th century, The Strand has been part of Townsville. The Strand lies along long tropical beaches and garden strips. In 2008, The Strand was recently named Australia’s cleanest beach. There is also a riverfront parkland attraction named Riverway located on the banks of Ross River.

In recent years, we have seen big steps toward the transformation of Townsville itself, and not only of scenic spots. Townsville is gaining a reputation for its shopping, food and entertainment precincts. Flinders Street, Palmer Street and Gregory Street are all really good shopping laneways to discover boutique goods and respective local markets. Top-notch restaurants, bars and cafés are available at Palmer Street, the new city lane.
